Planning Commission
The City has established several boards and commissions to create an environment for citizen participation and involvement. These groups assist the Council, City Manager and Departments in formulating and reviewing issues that have a direct impact on the quality of life in Glendale.
The Planning Commission consists of seven members: two from the Council’s own membership as ex-officio members, and five persons, not members of Council, that are appointed by the Council. All members of the Planning Commission are registered electors of the City. Except for the ex-officio members, planning commission members may not hold any other position with the city. The Commission chair is elected annually from among its members. The planning commission reports to the Council and is not considered part of any City department
The Commission makes decisions on various land-use matters, such as subdivisions, variances, and conditional use permits. The Commission also makes recommendations to the City Council regarding site plan and zone changes, new ordinances, and other matters of public interest. Decisions are reached through a public hearing process, making it important for community residents to attend meetings to address those issues which are of particular concern.

- Notices are mailed to all property owners within 300 feet of the project site.
