Construction & Closures
Streets need attention and maintenance. We do this at any time of the year, weather-permitting. Watch out for signs of fresh paint and bright orange cones on the lane lines. Please do not hit the cones and drive carefully around the work crew. Sign up for notifications of street construction and closures.

Construction

Notice of Upcoming Road Work for East Virginia Avenue and East Exposition Avenue

The City of Glendale has contracted with Brannan Sand and Gravel Company to resurface East Virginia Avenue between South Cherry Street and South Elm Street and East Exposition Avenue between South Cherry Street and South Forest Street.  This work will impact the parking areas along East Virginia Avenue.

The project will entail roto-milling the top two inches of surface from the existing streets and then placing a new layer of hot asphalt surfacing on the street.  New lane striping, turn arrows, and crosswalk markings will be added after the asphalt have been placed.  This work will require several lane closures and possible detours during the day.  It will also involve the closure of the street parking while the work proceeds.  The parking areas will be available at night, but cars will have to be removed from the area during the day or risk getting blocked by the construction for perhaps 30 minutes at a time.

Currently, the work is scheduled to start on Monday, April 28th.  The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  The project should be completed by Saturday, May 3rd.  Bad weather could delay the completion by a day or more.

We apologize for the inconvenience this work will cause.  However, these streets definitely need resurfacing, and we are certain motorists and pedestrians alike will appreciate the resurfacing and re-striping once it is complete.

You are asked to contact Glendale Department of Public Works at 303/639-4500 if you have any project-specific questions, comments, or complaints.

Thank you for your cooperation.
