Infinity Park South Now Open! E-mail
Infinity Park South

The new Infinity Park South on the southwest corner of E. Tennessee Avenue and S. Cherry Street is now open!

Come out this Memorial Day weekend and enjoy Glendale’s newest public recreation area!

Infinity Park South is now Glendale’s biggest public park. It is important because none of our citizens have a yard to play in here in Glendale. This park will serve as our backyard with lots of landscaping and places to run around, throw the Frisbee or just get out and be active.

For ten years or more, the City has been planning for this park. There have been many moving parts needed for the planning, financing and implementation of this project. One key element for the City has been Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Dunafon. As chairman of the Glendale Planning Commission, he has been with this project from the very beginning and led this effort to a successful conclusion.

Glendale Is Digging Up Dirt and Using It Well E-mail
Mount Glendale

The rise in the terrain at Exposition and Cherry Street is known at Glendale City Hall as Mount Glendale.

Under autumn’s grey skies and freezing rain, park construction in the City of Glendale might not look like progress. The ongoing build-out of the Infinity Park expansion project is working from the ground up. Huge equipment labors at digging, sorting, relocating dirt - lots of it. The fall report for progress on Glendale’s 8+ acre park may look like dirt, but the completion forecast for late spring will be a new day in the morning for the City landscape.

FitBeats™, The Fitness MP3 Leader, has teamed up with the City of Glendale to host the 1st annual “FitBeats™ Metro Mile”. The one mile race will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007, and will begin and end on Glendale’s newly
constructed Infinity Park; North America’s first municipal International Rugby Stadium. People of all ages, ability and experience level will be able to participate in the race, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the ‘YMCA Strong Kids Campaign’ which supports Glendale YMCA community programs for children, adults, families and seniors.

“FitBeats™ is thrilled about the Metro Mile,” says Gregory Tanner, CEO and Founder of FitBeats™. “The event is the first of many for us, and we feel privileged to be teaming up with such a great city like Glendale to host it”.

The FitBeats™ Metro Mile is an effort to bring the greater Denver/Glendale community together through the nature of fitness, fun, and competition. Immediately following the race, runners and spectators will be able to enjoy music, food, and refreshments on Glendale’s newly constructed Infinity Park, the first ever municipal U.S. Rugby Stadium. Rugby games and a casino night will ensue promptly after of the festivities.

“This event is going to be quite a celebration-it’s the grand opening of Infinity Park,” says Larry Harte, Mayor of the City of Glendale. “This is not an ordinary stadium. It’s a community facility and we plan to use it for a variety of things. This run is a good example of how the city plans to be flexible with its use”.

In addition to bringing the community closer together, the ‘FitBeats™ Metro Mile’ is also aimed at giving back to the Glendale YMCA. A portion of the proceeds will go directly towards supporting the ‘YMCA Strong Kids Campaign’, which supports Glendale YMCA community programs for children, adults, families and seniors.

“The heart of the Glendale YMCA operation is based on the Strong Kids Campaign which provides program subsidy and scholarships so everyone has the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs”, explains Debbie Ford, Executive Director of the
Glendale YMCA. “The hallmark of the success of the Glendale YMCA is collaboration with the City of Glendale and other organizations that support the healthy development of children, teens, adults, and families.”

The ‘FitBeats™ Metro Mile’ will take place Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO. For more information about how to register, go to www.fitbeatsmetromile.com.
