About Our Water

Where Our Water Comes From

In January of 1996, we switched from the city’s well water system to the Denver Water system. Glendale now has a master meter contract with Denver Water. What this means is that Glendale receives all its water from Denver, but Glendale bills and collects the fees for water used from the customer. Glendale:

  • Takes care of all the water mains in the city
  • Repairs or replaces them when they break
  • Cleans them by flushing them out on a periodic basis

If you have any questions concerning our water, you can call Public Works at 303-639-4500, or Denver Water at 303-893-2444.

2025 Consumer Confidence Report City of Glendale Addendum

Water Quality Monitoring Violation

In 2024, the City of Glendale water system was found to have violated three (3) drinking water requirements. Although this situation did not pose a safety risk and does not require that you take immediate action, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do and what we have done to correct this situation.

What happened?

Of the 381 backflow assemblies in our water system that are tested annually, there were at least eight (8) backflow assemblies that did not meet the 120-day retest requirement and four (4) backflow assemblies that did not meet the two (2) year retesting requirement. Additionally, the City of Glendale did not meet the survey compliance ratio requirement for 2023.

What is being done to correct this situation?

The City of Glendale has brought all backflow reports up to date and changed processes so that future backflow test reports will be on file. The survey compliance ratio requirement was met in 2023 and was resolved.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time. If a situation arises where the water is not safe to drink, you will be notified within twenty-four (24) hours. If you have specific health concerns, please consult your doctor.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received the consumer confidence report directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

We work closely with our partners at Denver Water to provide you with the highest quality water possible. Denver Water delivers high-quality, safe drinking water to us, and we are responsible for the operation, maintenance, billing and customer service related to the water distribution system. Denver Water is responsible for monitoring water quality, and you can learn more from Denver Water’s 2025 Water Quality Report at https://www.denverwater.org/sites/default/files/water-quality-report-2025.pdf
